Profile: Praveen Jain, Ph.D., P.Eng.

Canada Research Chair in Power Electronics
Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Praveen Jain holds a prestigious Canada Research Chair in Power Electronics. He is an international authority in the field with over 200 publications and 25 patents. Dr. Jain was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at an early stage of his career.

The most significant of Dr. Jain's work concerns the advancement of high frequency power conversion technology for its practical use in the space, computers, telecommunications and induction melting industries. He has the remarkably high credit of transferring technology from university-to-industry and from concept-to-product. His inventions and designs have been applied in designing commercial telecom and induction melting systems, and prototype space and computer systems. Dr. Jain has considerable consulting experience with the industry in wide range of practical problem solving and implementation of new power technology in telecommunications, fuel cell, computers and lighting applications.
